National Service Scheme was introduced in our country's educational system to make education more relevant to the demands of society by encouraging student’s participation and democratization, fostering emotional and national integration and developing human resources.
The overall objective of the National Service Scheme is “Personality Development”, Service to the community is the activity through which this objective is sought to be attained.

The more specific objectives of the National Service Scheme are to arouse the students’ conscience and to provide them an opportunity
1) To work with and among people.
2) To enhance their knowledge of themselves &  community through confrontation with reality.
3) To put their scholarship to practical use in mitigating at least some of the social problems.
4) To engage in creative and constructive social action.
5) To gain skills in the exercise of democratic leadership, and
6) To gain skills in programme development.

In order to provide students an opportunity to understand their social responsibility and develop their personality, the Institute had applied for the registration of a new NSS unit for St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research (Ref. SJIPR/NSS/2014/263). I am happy to inform you that our request has been sanctioned and University NSS Cell has allotted us an NSS Unit of 50 NSS Volunteers for the year 2014-2015 under Self Finance NSS Unit (183/18-10-2014).
